Observe a work meeting (if you do not currently work, think back to a previous job). If you have never been in a meeting, interview a person who attends meetings regularly. Watch the following video, which features a meeting. This should help you answer this question.

  • Listen to the language being used by each person
  • Who does most of the talking?
  • Who asks most of the questions?
  • To what extent does the talk convey information about power and gender differences? (Look specifically for who takes credit? Who exudes confidence? Who asks questions?)
  • As a change manager, how will your awareness of these differences influence your future interactions with staff?
