While your aldol reaction was running your ta announced

While your aldol reaction was running, your TA announced that the the sodium hydroxidesolution (10%, or 2.5 M) ADP was mistakenly set to 100μL instead of 400μL. Perhaps just toquell the obvious frustration among the students upon learning this news, the TA then statedthat all reactions would still proceed to completion. Knowing that a portion of the lab report grade is dependent on product quality and yield, many students decided to clean up and setup the reaction again, with 400μL of sodium hydroxide solution.

a) How many mmoles of NaOH should have been used (400μL)?

b) How many mmoles of NaOH was actually used (100μL)?

c)Was your TA correct? In other words, with only 100μL of sodium hydroxide solution, would the aldol reaction still proceed to completion to give the desired product?

d) Why or why not? Explain your answer.
