Which you designed a training component on safety

Your client brings to your attention a concern in a company for which you designed a training component on safety procedures on how to handle radioactive materials at a new location for company XXX in another country. The client feels your recommendations for safety procedures are stringent even though they are relevant and correct. The problem is that they are not cost effective to implement. The client comes back to reassure you that the legal requirements in the country are different than the US, so the company is not obligated to follow the kind of guidelines that you are recommending. As an ID you see the imminent danger that might come on those who don’t receive appropriate training.

How would you as an instructional designer who intends to act ethically respond to these challenges? The question is, are the claims that we make for efficiency, effectiveness, and appropriateness in instruction opening us to those levels of responsibility whether we are ready to assume them or not?
