The Director also asks you to prepare a brief job description for an emerging role of a manager or supervisor in health information management so she can show others at the meeting how Health Information Management (HIM) has changed over the last 10 years. Research various job description templates and use one that best fits what you are trying to achieve in this short amount of time.
PART TWO
Directions: Develop an in-service PowerPoint presentation on ethical coding standards for coders in the Health Information Department. The in-service shall include the AHIMA ethical coding standards. The presentation shall include the following:
1. Purpose of the in-service session.
2. Review of each ethical coding standard.
3. Provide examples of what coders should do to comply with each standard.
4. Discuss the impact of not following ethical coding standards.
5. Discuss the relationship between the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and ethical coding standards.
6. Discuss what action the coder should take in reporting unethical coding violations.
7. Discuss how you will monitor the coders work to ensure ethical standards are in compliance.
8. Provide resources for coders to use as they perform their daily coding functions.
9. Explain how coders can help improve compliance.
PowerPoint Expectations:
1. State the objective of your presentation.
2. Your PowerPoint presentation should incorporate colorful graphics but avoid loud colors and graphics that are distracting.
3. Limit your PowerPoint presentation to 30 minutes.
4. The slides should be simple and not overwhelm the audience with too much text.
5. Limit the number of PowerPoint slides to 15.
6. Allow enough time for questions from the audience.
7. Cite the source of your information.
