"Sales person selling elevators but not completing thru with the order in the system and the equipment does not arrive on the customers specified date, which in turn delays the entire project.

The problem was identified as lack of project management on the sales side. Since all the equipment has specific lead times, ones the elevators are sold the sales person knows when the elevator needs to be ordered in order to meet customers expected date. For example, if I sold and elevator today and the customer wanted the equipment to arrive to the site on march 1st 2018, and I know that for this type of elevator the lead time is 8 weeks, I would need to place the order around the end of December to meet that expected date.

Even though this employee was basically micro managed it was impossible to know what projects were awarded to him if he did not communicate to the rest of the team. So, missed projects keep coming up and we keep getting surprised and scramble to get the equipment from the factory. The only way to fix this problem was to have someone either follow up on all his projects or have someone shadow him all day every day. Fortunately, this employee has left the company. Hopefully, problem solved."
