Assignment

A service company, with major internal problems generated by a high level of turnover in low and medium-level positions, decides to investigate what is happening.

The human resources department proposes to the management of the company to carry out a work environment survey to find out what aspects worry the workers that make them leave in order to try to find a solution. Turnover levels are well above competing companies.

The management, as a priority, gives them full margin to be able to do it and present the report as soon as possible. It is decided that the variables to be measured will be working conditions, work environment and professional development with many sub-variables in each of these sections.

First of all, conscientious communication work is carried out from the personnel department to explain what is intended to be done with this survey and what will be done with the results.

All workers are informed that the overall results will be made public to all and that it will be reported which actions are going to be carried out urgently by management among those that are seen to be improvable.

The workers decide to participate, filling out some anonymous surveys and having a short interview with the members of human resources so that they can clarify questions that they think are important. Of course, confidentiality is guaranteed to avoid suspicion of any kind. They get 99% of the staff on staff to participate.

After the data collection, the report is passed to management and it comes to light that the main reasons why workers leave the company are for professional development opportunities, economic issues, because they consider that their salaries are well below the sector, very chaotic internal communication and little motivation due to the negligence of management towards their role in the company.

Human Resources presents this report to management and management gets angry when they see the results and tells human resources that they don't intend to change anything and whoever doesn't like it already knows where the door is. Of course, the overall results were never made public by express order of the top management. The human resources department was discredited and the environment even worsened among the workers, in addition to not improving the turnover trend within the company.
