1. Question 1:
Galaxy book rental shop offers the books for rent to the customers. This book rental store purchases the books from local and international vendors. A customer who wish to borrow the book has to take membership by giving nominal fee and needs to deposit security money.When a customer borrows or returns a book to store, the shop-keeper needs to note down the transaction or update the corresponding record on the transaction book. Based on the type of book, customer needs to pay the rental amount for rented duration. If the loan duration exceeds by one day, then amount as penalty is deducted from the security deposit and customer is informed about the overdue date. If book is not returned by customer, then the weekly penalty is applied and deducted from is security deposit. If customers fail to return the book, then in this situation membership will be terminated.
Based on above case solve the following:
a. Draw an enterprise data model for the book rental system.
b. Identify the number tables and the type of relationship between these tables.
c. Design the attributes for these tables which should cover the requirements of above case.
2. Question 2:
Consider the "data needs" of a small accounting department at a tax services firm. What would some of the data entities be in this setting? List and explain their relevance. Explain how you come up with the various relationships between the entities.
