Discussion: Public Information
As you explore the Web sites of the various watchdog agencies (Charities Review Council, GuideStar, Better Business Bureau), what types of commonalities did you notice? Why do these agencies provide the information they do? Do you think more or less information should be made available? Why do you think so and how would it affect an organization's fundraising strategies?
In addition to the general expectation of financial transparency, are there other pieces of information that nonprofits should be required to provide to the public? Why?
Are there things that a nonprofit has the right to keep private? What are these things and why do you feel that they should be kept private?
