Training and development initiatives are important areas for HR Professionals to understand. In this Assignment your group will design training for the company described below.

Emerson Hall is the owner of Stoneaway Educational Support Company provides educational supplies to numerous elementary schools in Ontario and the number of schools has grown over the past two years, since COVID. Many of Stoneaway's customers heard about the company from other teachers. The demand keeps growing.

Stoneaway has a very active research and development department staffed by retired elementary teachers and curriculum developers who are constantly working to find innovative ways to produce educational materials for teachers. This is a very hands-on type of creative process with lots of discussion, close working groups and little use of computers.

This company began10 years ago and has grown steadily. The company started in the basement of the founder, a teacher who couldn't find material to teach certain concepts and decide to create them herself. Her staff are creative, independent and believe in the mission of the business, helping teachers help children. The company follows the philosophy of Maria Montessori and tries to find ways to teach abstract concepts concretely.

The company has grown at a very fast rate and recently Emerson Hall has realized that more attention is going to need to be to paid to computer generated materials and that the business itself is going to need to introduce more efficient ways to handle orders, shipping and payroll, which is not handled electronically. In addition, she is going to need more qualified staff. She has talked with the employees and their reactions to training in computer programs for creative development has ranged from cautious interest, enthusiasm and for some to dismissal and outright refusal to consider the idea. Her staff exhibit the full range of reactions to the idea of training in computer generated material.

Emerson Hall would like to introduce computer technology into the company and wants your firm of HR professional to design training to help her staff accept and learn how to use new technology to move the business forward. She is concerned about the cost, time and acceptance of the training by her staff, but she is enthusiastic and is hoping your firm can help.

Remember in this assignment, you can create, develop and add facts to the above story if you wish. Create business goals for the company, and any other items which you think would be useful. Use your imagination.
