What strategies might you take to facilitate communication

Assignment task:

You must consider-patient's age, gender, race, language, and culture. The demographic data can assist you in developing an effective approach. You want to keep all of this information in mind, especially cultural information because we frequently overlook that other cultures have different expectations of mental health, acceptance of mental health, and how people express themselves and conceive the world as a whole. In Western society, we can perceive the patient's emotional conversation as negative; nonetheless, this could be a sign of help for others.

It is also important to keep in mind your demographics and your presence as a clinician. A person with power and privilege may effect a patient, and your demographics may also have an effect.

She has been referred to you by the local Emergency Room physician for suspicion of self-harm. Upon your interview with her, you find that she is unwilling to speak. You are having a great deal of difficulty making an assessment of her safety based on this fact.
