Problem: Shauna Shapiro is so beautiful and so smart. I really enjoyed watching her TED talk. Two things I found interesting yet shocking were 1. What shame can do to our brains and 2. That we lose more veterans to suicide than in combat. It is amazing that our brains are so power! And some of us can control it and put it to good use, and others allow it to overpower them and self-sabotage. I met a psychologist once; I'll never forget her telling me that we can be so hard on ourselves at times. She said, more so questioned, that what we say and convince ourselves (negatively) is more than likely never something we would do to a friend; that we need to be our own friend, our best friend. That will always resonate with me, because I knew exactly what she was referring to. I love the idea of practicing kind attention. And I agree with Shauna's saying of "what you practice goes stronger". Her saying runs along the lines of "practice makes perfect" but with a sense of more realness to it, because "perfect" doesn't exist. I know deep down that I am a baddie but constantly remind myself of my "flaws". Why? I do not know! But I want to start with what Shauna did- practicing a 'good morning to myself with my hand over my heart'. My husband always says, "it costs nothing to be kind". And I feel like I have it for others... I now want it badly for myself. Respond back in 80 words. Need Assignment Help?
