Problem: What learning activities and student grouping can I use for The assessment I designed for Spanish 2 is based on the Presentational Writing Standard IL.PW from The Utah World Languages Core Standards for Proficiency. This standard states, "Students can write briefly on most familiar topics using a series of simple sentences." The learning indicator is "IL.PW.1 a. I can describe the physical appearance and personality of a friend or family member." In this assessment, students are asked to write ten sentences in Spanish describing the physical characteristics and personality of one of their friends and two family members. The first three sentences are about their mother's or aunt's hair, height, and personality. The next three sentences tell their father's or uncle's eye color, whether they have facial hair, and their personality. The following three sentences, students write about their friend's height, whether they wear glasses, and personality. The last sentence is about describing themselves. I selected this assessment because it allows students to reinforce the vocabulary they learned in previous lessons. It's also crucial for students to practice grammar structures, especially when using adjectives and nouns.
