A. Ethnic break-down of students, teachers and staff; you may report a general observation of what you noticed.

B. Economic indicator, such as number or students on Free and Reduced Lunches, an estimate of affluence in the school, Title I, some of this might be on their web page.

C. Any other relevant demographic factors (For example, school serves population of students with hearing impairment)

D. For a public school include academic Indicator: Acceptable, Exemplary, as indicated on their web page or Texas Education Agency, if they are private school you might ask what rating system they use.

E. What is the philosophy or classroom management/guidance plan followed for the school. Is there evidence of a school wide method?

F. Number of parent events per month, How does the school involve parents?

G. Teacher/student ratio

H. What is required for teacher qualifications? Do they use/allow alternative certifications?

I. Do they use paraprofessionals, what are paraprofessional qualifications?

• If possible gather perceptions on parent involvement from teachers, staff and administrators, this does not need to be an elaborate interview, just asking a handful of people.

• School Climate: take a tour of the school (virtually online by reviewing website or in person) Evaluate the overall safety and quality based on what was learned in your chapters on related to quality non-parental care and diverse, quality school environments. Look around at bulletin boards, marquees, hallways, school ambience, cleanliness, the grounds, parking lots, building structure and if possible drive around the neighborhood and immediate community.
