Problem
After reading pp. 107-114 (including story Chopin "The Storm") from the book Introduction to Fiction by Joe (X. J. ) Kennedy; Dana Gioia, Edition 11, Please answer both two questions below:
• What is setting and what are some of the ways setting can contribute to the production of the theme?
• What is the importance of the setting in "The Storm"? (hint: think about the rural nature of the setting and its religious background - for a story about adultery, this latter is key) Can any elements of the setting be read figuratively and, if so, how? (Please provide textual evidence of your interpretation).
