For the activity you will write a routine, persuasive and bad-news message as defined below.
1. Assume you just lost your temper when discussing a group project with one of your classmates. You left the meeting early because you were frustrated that your classmate insisted on doing everything his way. You still feel that he is dominating the project, but your behavior was inappropriate. Write an apology to your classmate in a way that repairs some of the damage between the two of you and allows the group to work more effectively together.
2. Write a sales letter that targets students promoting a new roll laptop computer that is lighter and more compact than most laptops. Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYtgZyZGO2M to view a short video. Your sales letter should be less than one page single-spaced but should cover all of the components in Table 10.9. You can add your own content, as needed, to complete the sales letter.
3. Nick Jensen is the manager of a small chemical supply company and must deliver a bad news message to all employees. Nick needs to inform them that the tuition reimbursement program will be discontinued immediately, as the cost is too much. The message will explain that the company has lost money in three of the four prior years and that you need to take action to make the company profitable again. Currently 20 employees consistently took advantage of the program. Employees currently enrolled could be reimbursed for the courses during the present semester. Employees who had fewer than four courses left to receive an undergraduate degree would continue receiving reimbursement until they graduated. This included just three employees.
