What happens when your policy is not followed

Assignment

Project B2: Organizational Policy to address an IT-related ethical workforce issue.

Objective: Write an organizational policy (a text-only report with a total minimum of 1,000 words) to address an IT-related ethical workforce issue that you wrote about in your matrix for the B1 assignment

Look at other policies to see how they are written. The following site provides examples of templates for policies but an Internet search provides other templates.

Note: You must produce an original organizational policy in your original expression. Also, do not quote any source text and do not include any graphics of any kind in your project papers. Only use text and original expression - only that will be counted in addressing the minimum word count and addressing the topic criteria.

Submission Requirements: Submit the assignment response for grading in your corresponding project Assignments Folder as a single attached Microsoft Word file (as an .rtf or .doc format file).

Format: This assignment requires a minimum of three external references (i.e., relevant articles, books, information on Web sites, etc.). Indicate appropriate American Psychological Association (APA) style for citations and references for all sources you use. In addition to critical thinking and analysis skills, your paper should reflect appropriate grammar and spelling, good organization, and proper business-writing style. Note: you only need to use APA style guidelines for the citations you provide in the body of your text to indicate that you are drawing information from a source (but not quoting it) and also in a corresponding reference entry in a list of references after the end of the body of your text.

Here is a link to descriptions and examples of APA references by category of online article publication:

In Project B1, you produced a matrix that mapped key organizational issues and identified how these ethical issues were affected by laws, regulations and policies.

For this assignment, you will write an organizational policy that specifically addresses that ethical workforce issue.

There are many IT ethical challenges in the 21st century. As a result, there are constant clashes between organizational and personal policy issues in the workforce. For example, there are trade-offs that occur between the standard of living and worker productivity. This is only one example of the ethical conflict that arises when differences arise between our organizational and personal beliefs.

The following elements must be addressed using the following required headings:

Policy Comparison (heading)

Examine and compare other policies to see how they are written.

Note: You should compare at least one policy that covers most of the issues you are addressing. You can include additional policy comparisons as needed. Look for policies that can be accessed via the Web for which we can view via the URL you provide in your reference(s). Use your own criteria for comparing the policies with the objective of justifying and forming the nature of your policy proposal.
Related Organizational Policy (heading)

Use the current ethical IT-related workforce issue you developed in the Project B1 assignment and the Matrix as the basis for providing a high-level representation of a policy that is close to what you are proposing with your own ideas.

Note: The high-level representation you provide should be the equivalent of a brief overview of your proposed policy concepts that would provide a useful review by executive decision-makers in an organization, NOT the details found in the wording of most IT Ethics policy statements.

Benefits and Outcomes of Policy (heading)

Describe how your policy - the one you are representing at a high level (overview) for this assignment - will help the organization and describe its positive or negative consequences

Potential Conflicts (heading)

Document any conflicts that may arise between organizational and personal ethical beliefs that this policy-the one you are writing for this assignment-may impose on you (i.e., the organization for which you are providing a high-level policy proposal for review).

Note: Consider any conflicts between the ethical assumptions that are adopted for the organization in the policy versus individual ethical beliefs of parties affected by the policy, such as employees, customers, etc.

Code of Conduct Issues (heading)

How does your organizational policy manage a commitment to ethical professional conduct of its members (e.g. code of conduct - code specifics and need for maintenance, training, etc.)?

Effects of Non-Compliance (heading)

What happens when your policy is not followed? What are the consequences for those who do not comply?

The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
