What happens to this excess during work-up

During the reaction of 1-bromobutane with sodium ethoxide, a white precipitate forms. This precipitate disappears during the initial quench of the work-up procedure. What is it and where did it go?

It should be obvious that the sodium ethoxide is used in excess from the stoichiometry. What happens to this excess during work-up? At what point is it destroyed. Write down the reaction that occurs.
