What ethical responsibilities does the nfl have for health

Problem

Violence both on and off the field/court/ice has been a topic of intense scrutiny by the media and one of significant concern to sports management.

I. Sports such as boxing and mixed martial arts are violent because of their very nature. Does society have an ethical responsibility to put a stop to such sports? Do such sports encourage more general violence or do they serve as an outlet for society's aggression?

II. Explain your answer. The violent nature of football has led to many player concussions which in turn have resulted in serious permanent problems later in life for a number of players.

III. What ethical responsibilities does the NFL have for the health and well-being of its players? Off-the-field/court/ice violence by players is an all-too-frequent occurrence. Does a league or sports supervisory body have a right to control player behavior away from the field/court/ice? Why or why not?

IV. Provide a specific example of a player whose violent behavior was unethical. What were the consequences for that player?
