Assignment
This assignment is geared to encourage participation in communication as a process. Therefore, you are tasked with attending two events where speakers are communicating about issues in society. These events can be speeches given by individuals or speakers on a panel presentation. I will accept communication observations based on televised events such as the State of the Union address or speeches/testimony from sources like C-SPAN. You must be clear in documenting where and when you observed the event however to insure full credit for the assignment. I encourage you to seek out events that are interesting to you, not just events that are convenient. We have a number of upcoming events on campus and you can find several things in the community as well to fit the requirements for the assignments. IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT THE QUALITY/ACCEPTABILITY OF AN EVENT - DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK ME ABOUT IT. FORM: The form below will serve as the guide for your communication observation. You must answer each question with as much detail and thoroughness as possible (this includes question 6). Answers composed of just one sentence are not acceptable. Consider that for each question you should have a well-reasoned, well-explained paragraph. The Comm Obs must be typed; you can either reformat a Word document or type in the downloaded form. Handwritten assignments will not be accepted; plan appropriately.

G. Describe something you learned during the event that you did not know beforehand.
