Ecosystem services are ways in which healthy ecosystems benefit humans.
1. Summarize what is meant by ecosystem services.
Brainstorm ways in which you depend on healthy ocean ecosystems and their components for your lifestyle. Try to provide at least 10 specific examples. Be sure to include an example from each of the following categories: provisioning, regulating, supporting, and cultural services). Creating a table might be helpful.
3. How does the ocean contribute to your constituents of well-being (security, basic material for good life, health, good social relations, freedom of choice and action)? Try to provide a specific example.
What do you think are positive and negative aspects of viewing ecosystems based on their worth to humans?
What would happen to ecosystem services if ecosystems were degraded? Provide specific examples.
