Using the internet, research a case of alleged police abuse. Describe the facts of the alleged abusive incident and the result of the case. Or, if the case is still pending, describe the facts of the abuse alleged and the current status of the case. Then, address the following:
Do you think there is too much media hype about these types of incidents? Or do you think the media is only reporting the tip of the iceberg?
Are lawsuits effective at making police officers and agencies accountable for their actions, or do lawsuits cause officers to hesitate to investigate suspicious incidents or to be less likely to deal with dangerous suspects for fear they will be sued?
What area of constitutional criminal procedure is implicated where police abuse occurs?
