What are the roles of employee selection in disney

Problem 1: Concerning Disney (a) What are the roles of employee selection, training, and rewards in creating a homogenous, predictable cast? (b) How does the prestige structure work?  (c) What are the greatest rewards of being a cast member given the low pay?  (A google search suggests that today Disneyland cast members are paid about 70% below the average American wage.)

Problem 2: What role do emotional regulation (p. 117), surface acting (p. 118), emotional dissonance (p. 118), emotion regulation (p.122), cognitive reappraisal (p. 123), social sharing (p. 123), and emotional suppression (p. 123) play in the cast culture?  ("Organizational culture" is defined on p. 515 as, "A system of shared meaning held by an organization's members that distinguishes the organization from others. This system is characterized by values, beliefs, and underlying assumptions.")

Problem 3: How do socialization, supervision, surveillance, conformity pressure, and etiquette relate to emotional management among the Disneyland cast?

Problem 4: Compare the way public expectations control cast behavior, especially with respect to the most elite roles like Judy of the Jet with the role supervision and surveillance plays in controlling cast behaivor. (b) How do most ride operators and other cast members respond to public expectations?

Problem 5: Is Van Maanen right in calling the degree of commitment required of the Disneyland cast "fanatical"? (b)  Extra credit: Compare the emotional labor required of the cast at Disneyland with the emotional labor required of the 918th bomber unit in the film Twelve O'Clock High.
