Esmeralda loves to draw. She spends most of her time drawing and sketching. She has been recognized at local art shows and art contests. Unfortunately, she has been neglecting all of her school work. She seems to struggle a bit, but it is unclear if she is having difficulty because she doesn't complete assignments or if there is an underlying issue.
Use the case study above to answer of the following:
Writing the Case Analysis
I. Introduction to the case
i. Briefly discuss the background information as presented in the case, including relevant facts and the most important issues. Do not re- tell the entire story - be clear, concise, and informative.
II. Focus your analysis
i. Identify key problems and Outline three (3) possible solutions to the problem.

v. For example, if you propose an alternative textbook for a student:
- What alternative texts are available?
- What are the pros/cons of the alternative textbooks?
- What does the research say about a student's academic progress using the alternative?

Case Study
o An opening statement about the matter
Esmeralda is a student who enjoys drawing in her spare time. She has been doing well in the local art contests and displays, but she has not put enough effort into her education. It is not apparent if her trouble in completing projects is attributable to a problem with the subject matter or whether there is another issue at play.
o Narrow the scope of your analysis.
Esmeralda is not keeping up with her studies, and the two primary issues in this scenario are not evident why she is having such a hard time. Because of these issues, Esmeralda's academic achievement and future possibilities are negatively impacted.
o Uncover possible solutions
The student in the case study is not completing her assignments and is struggling in school. There are a few potential solutions to this problem:
i. A discussion with her parents, teachers, and/or a school counselor might be beneficial in determining the source of the difficulties she is experiencing with her homework.
ii. Providing assistance to complete her tasks, such as via a tutor or a study group, is still another potential solution to this problem.
iii. The student could be given a different, more engaging textbook and easier to understand.
iv. The student could be given more time to complete her assignments.
