What are the likely targets for fraud in the workplace -

Prepare a presentation - written plan

Part -1:

As Fraud Control officer in your workplace your manager is concerned about the increased levels of fraud and corruption in the workplace.

In order to lower the risk of incidents and adhere to internal policies and procedures your manager would like you to prepare a presentation to improve employee's awareness and understanding of fraud and corruption in the workplace.

You may select a location known to you personally, or through family or friends. If necessary, you can select a well-known location such as Centrelink or Medicare and gather your information online.

Your manager has asked that you present a written plan for approval that includes, but is not limited to, the points below.

You are to provide a written presentation plan that includes the following information:

1. What is fraud?

2. What is fraud control? How can it be used effectively in the workplace?

3. What measures can be used to detect fraud in the workplace?

4. What are the likely targets for fraud in the workplace?

5. What are the early warning signs employees should look for to detect fraud in the workplace?

6. How can employees help to lower the risk of fraud in the workplace?

7. What legislation, policies and procedures and codes of conduct should employees be aware of in the workplace?

8. Are there any training strategies that could be implemented to improve employee knowledge and understanding of fraud risks? If, so what are these?

9. How can employees help to provide an ethical culture? What are the benefits of doing so?

10. What mechanisms are there for reporting fraud for employees?

11. What are the consequences of unethical behaviour in the workplace?

This is a report and therefore should have numbered paragraphs. You can use the numbered paragraphs with the questions above as headings if you wish.

Try and write the report in third person, which means you avoid the use of ‘I', ‘we', ‘me'. This allows for the report to be more objective. This can take some practice, so try your hardest to do it.

Part -2:

PowerPoint Presentation

Following on from your work in Assessment Task 1, you are to prepare a Power Point presentation built from your presentation plan. All the information should be delivered, but in accordance with the rules for the use of Power Point, i.e.: not too many points on one slide.

Your Power Point should be designed to deliver a session on fraud and corruption awareness.

The Power Point must be at least 10 slides long and include at least one picture, at least one sound effect and at least one form of animation.

The Power Point should be interesting to observe and be able to sustain the interest of the audience.
