What are the legal issues and negative consequences

Assignment task:

An organization that complies with labor laws does have to do different things in its human resource functions. An organization's human resources department ensures a safe and equitable workplace. The human resources department must ensure that the organization is appropriately complying with many different labor laws including things such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Civil Rights Act, Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and many more. (Katz et al., 2017). Not only does the human resources department have to ensure safety and equality, but compliance with labor laws also regulates the process of union formation. According to Chapter 3, "Labor law is important for regulating the process of union formation and for establishing collective negotiation, which is referred to as the constitutive function labor law, and for regulating and influencing the relative bargaining power of the parties, which is referred to as the power broker function of labor law," (Katz et al., 2017). It is essential for HR professionals to understand the needs of employees and what compliances need to be met. "Understanding compliance and what it requires of your company means having a grasp on the legal needs within a specific industry," ("The Importance of HR in Compliance," 2023). Without proper compliance, there can be legal issues and negative consequences.
