As a teacher, having and adhering to a code of ethics is necessary because it protects the rights of students and the professionalism of teaching. Generally, a code of ethics should outline a teacher's primary responsibilities and define the ethical behavior that should be demonstrated in the classroom.

PART I

The Model Code of Ethics for Educators (MCEE) page and the Rationale for the MCEE page on the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) website and address the following questions:

i. Why has it taken so long and been so difficult to establish a universal framework of educator ethics in the United States?

ii. What are some specific ways in which following the MCEE will keep you from violating the boundaries of professional practice? Name or two of the important points in the MCEE and why they are important for you as a future teacher.

iii. How will you ensure that you incorporate the principles of this code of ethics into your teaching practice?

PART II
