As you've learned, girls have been largely ignored in theory, research and programming for at-risk/delinquent juveniles. This has very real consequences for girls who are accused of/convicted of crimes. Write a paper addressing the following 3 issues, incorporating what you have learned from course materials (text, lectures, videos), plus 1-2 outside scholarly sources (e.g., government documents, books, peer reviewed journal articles). A. What are some of the key ways that research shows that girls and boys differ with regard to development and behavior?
B. Do you believe that prevention, intervention, & treatment strategies should be gender specific? Why or why not?
C. Imagine that you were given one million dollars to develop a program for at risk/delinquent girls. What would your program look like? What do you believe are the most important characteristics (lessons, programs, structure) that the program must include to be effective for girls? Be creative!
