What about diction-figurative language employed by speakers

Problem: Both Queen Elizabeth I (when i was fair young (ca. 1570)) and Robert Herrick (to the virgins, to make much of time) write poems about the passing of time, youth, and sex, but, notably, their poems are written from opposed perspectives. How do the personae of their poems govern the content? For example, are the poems tonally similar? What about the diction or figurative language employed by the speakers? Note: When writing about tone, especially, it's important to ensure that you're not simply attributing an attitude (or feeling) to the poem as a whole but locating that attitude (or feeling) in specific moments.
