We need to form a cyclohexanone with a methyl group at the

Starting with 2-methylcyclohexanol, ethyne, and 2 equivalents of methanol (all of which do not necesarily need to be used in the first step, of course), we need to form a cyclohexanone with a methyl group at the 6 position and a 2,3-butanediol group (with both OH groups at the back (dashed lines)) at the 2 position. All carbons on the target need to come from the starting materials, but other than that we can use whatever other compounds and however many steps we need. I don't want someone to do this all for me, but any tips at all would be great.
