The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created to ensure the safety and health of America's employees. This is done by setting and enforcing standards and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health. Use the Internet to research one or more articles that deals with a long-term care facility that was cited for an OSHA violation. After reading the article(s), please respond to the following issues:
1. What was the noted deficiency?
2. How was it discovered?
3. Was there a negative impact to the staff or patients?
4. What sanction was imposed?
5. Do you feel it was intentional? Why or why not?
6. How would you have prevented it from happening?
7. List and provide a brief description of five of the 15 Requirements of Participation used by the designated state survey agency. How might violating one of these requirements result in a substandard survey rating?
8. Identify and discuss the five elements that must be addressed in the organization's Plan of Correction (POC).
9. List and discuss the three remedy categories that the state can impose on an organization based upon the seriousness of the survey deficiencies.
