Problem
Background: Many employers conduct "behaviorally-based" interviews, and organizations are searching for behaviorally-based outcomes on resumes. This process provides candidates the opportunity to share what they have done, and the measurable impact their work produced. STAR defined: STAR is an acronym for: Situation, Task, Action, Result. At CIAM, we see the STAR as "incomplete" without the Impact factor ("STARI") that helps meet the needs of the organization, the community, and sometimes society at large.
1) Consider how you would communicate what you learned in an interview, knowing that time is limited and the interviewer is most focused on how you demonstrated your knowledge and what significance it has to others.
2) Identify one key "takeaway" from learning about how to be a leader making sure you can respond to each aspect of the STARI.
3) Consider which aspects of your STARI highlight the unique learning and skills developed in the course. This is the time when you strategically plan how you will communicate in a way that reflects what you want the reader to know about your competence and capability.
4) Carefully choose the words for each aspect of the STARI so that the paragraph is accurate, clear, concise, and meaningful.
