Purpose Statement:

This position contributes to supporting user access to scholarly information services within a secure environment by coordinating the Library's high demand resources in a variety of formats. The position is also required to liaise with staff across the ANU Library, and the broader ANU community.

Key accountability areas:

Within the Chifley Branch of the University Library, the Library User Services Officer (Reserve) is primarily responsible for coordinating, monitoring and training staff in processes associated with the reserve function of the University Library, as well as providing a leadership role with the Library's electronic reserve collection. The position contributes to other user services tasks within the circulation function, assisting users and maintaining information about services on the Library website. The position also coordinates building maintenance related matters in close collaboration with the building custodian.

Role Statement:

Under the general direction of the Library User Services Coordinator, Chifley Branch

1. Oversee Library User Services including:

a) Coordinate services associated with high demand materials in all formats and their associated access
b) Supervise staff and advise on workloads, training and development of staff associated with circulation duties
c) Convert documents to defined standards, into a variety of formats in accordance with copyright regulations
d) Respond to enquiries and resolve more complex user services problems
e) Liaise with academic staff as required
f) Collate and compile statistical reports as required
g) Provide preliminary advice on Library User Services policies and procedures

2. Coordinate building related matters such as security, facilities and equipment requirements and maintenance

3. Participate in the provision of information access services and activities as required

4. Participate in meetings, training and professional development activities, relevant to the work area

5. Undertake other duties as required consistent with the classification level including general administrative duties and other tasks required by the Library User Services Coordinator

6. Comply with all ANU policies and procedures with particular reference to those relating to health and safety and equal opportunity

Selection Criteria: 1. Provide a first point of contact for resolving day-to-day IT issues as they arise and are reported by staff and students. Issues that cannot be resolved alone should be escalated to the appropriate IT Group member. 2. Maintain a hardware and software asset register. 3. Provide and configure equipment for new personnel. Liaise with CECS admin staff on expected personnel arrivals and departures. 4. Monitor and respond to IT security incidents, system faults, hardware and software performance issues. 5. Maintain IT equipment; liaising with suppliers regarding warranty repairs. 6. Install software on CECS IT equipment allocated to CECS personnel. 7. Assist with the configuration of CECS IT infrastructure in liaison with other IT staff. 8. Other duties commensurate with the classification of the position as required. 9. Knowledge of and experience in library user services, with a sound knowledge of circulation and managing high demand resources. Relevant qualification and/or extensive relevant work experience will be highly regarded 10. Demonstrated experience in a client focused service environment, delivering services to Library users and accessing scholarly information resources in all formats 11. Sound digital skills including knowledge and experience in a variety of library relevant software applications within the information industry 12. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, together with the ability to liaise with members of the ANU community 13. Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and team leader, supervise staff, manage team workloads, as well as working with a high degree of accuracy and working flexibly in a changing environment 14. Demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and policies and a commitment to their application in a university context.
