1.There are many attributes that define a quality leader. Some of these attributes can be defined by their techniques of influence. Such influences are legitimate request, instrumental compliance, coercion, rational pursuasion, rational faith, inspirational appeal, indoctrination, information distortion, situational engineering, personal identification and decision identification (Stojkovic, 2015, p.192).

Of these techniques of influence, I feel the best technique of influence is through personal identification. The qualities that make a good leader is the moral character that leader posses. Like the video on Martin Luther King's leadership, it showed just how many people were willing to follow him as a leader due his moral character and the way he carried himself.

If you have an authoritative leader who doesn't live by the rules he is trying to enforce, it makes people question his character and not respect him as a leader. By setting the example of what you expect from your subordinates, I feel that is the attribute that makes a quality leader.

2.9/11 was a leadership challenge on many levels. It was an attack that even though our intelligence keyed off on it, they never thought that it would really happen. Once the attack happened there were actions in place to react, but they did not have a standard operating procedure to execute on the attack. They scrambled jets quickly but the jets did not know their mission or targets. The communication between the leadership was also lacking.

The Secretary of Defense and Vice President were behind on what was currently happening and they were the ones who were supposed to be making the decisions. These politicians were not prepared for the war to come to America. Our current Secretary of Defense is the epitome of a leader, Marines have followed him into hell and back and would gladly do it again. General Mattis possess every leadership trait he instills confidence and courage into everyone that he talks to. He is also very knowledgeable in war which I think is a trait that we could have used during the 9/11 attacks to reduce the amount of time that it would have taken to react.

The other leader that we talk about in this section is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The video states when talking about Martin Luther King Jr. "people who believed what he believed, took his cause and they made it their own" (Sinek, 2010). His type of leadership blended like-minded individuals and had them join the cause that he was passionate about, that he saw needed to be changed in the world. He was not a chosen leader, he was a leader that used his words and vision to strengthen people. His passion and wisdom is what made him the great speaker that he is known for.

A quality leader in my mind is someone who is going to put everything they have into whatever they are leading. They need to be 100% committed to the cause. If others see how dedicated and committed that person is they will listen, learn, and do whatever that great leader says or wants. Hitler although morally was very wrong and his compass was very far off was a strong leader and speaker. His passion is what made his speeches so inspiring to his masses. All strong leaders have passion for their cause

3.There are two models of employee supervision used as a guide to direct employees. The traditional model of employee supervision focuses on clear rules and regulations, has a span of control, contains a division of labor, delegates authority and contains employee specialization within organizations.

The human service model of employee supervision focuses on employee ownership, the delegation of authority and shares power within the organization (Stojkovic, 2015, p.227). Given the nature of criminal justice organizations, I feel the traditional model of employee supervision is the best choice because I feel like most criminal justice organizations run on a para military type chain of command which makes the division of labor and rules very clear when it comes to how a department should be run.

While I think the human service model could be beneficial in other organizations, I feel that due to the criminal justice system being held to higher standards to uphold the laws, it is more beneficial for them to set roles and work within their specialization instead of mixing roles of power.

4.The traditional model of employee supervision is a centralized authority, i can associate it to be similar to a para military style of organization. There are well developed policies within the traditional model of employee supervision and procedures that utilizes a chain of command.

Given the ever increasing nature of criminal justice organization, it appears that the traditional model of employee supervision may not be the best possible choice. Fyfe, argues that it is not clear how the elements of the traditional model of police supervision actually enhance the supervisory process and, more important, how the model itself is related to the goals of police organizations( Stojkovic, Kalinich, & Klofas, 2015).

This type of model stifles the employees and reduces morale within the organization. Goldstein suggests that a routine model style approach makes innovated change difficult for officers to adapt to ever changing communities. New supervision models requires a new dimension for supervisors and help officers adapt to the changes of society.
