The values obtained were 0207 and 0900 respectively

In an experiment involving the reduction of NAD+ to NADH, 3mL of a solution of partially reduced NAD (ie. some is in NAD+ form, some is NADH) were placed in a 1cm wide curvette and the OD determined at 340nm and 260nm. The values obtained were 0.207 and 0.900 respectively. Calculate the molar concentrations of the oxidized and reduced forms of the NAD.

The molar extinction coefficients of NAD+ and NADH at 260nm and 340nm are as follows:

NAD+ at 260 nm E= 17,800 M^-1 cm^-1

at 340nm E= 0

NADH at 260nm E= 14,400 M^-1 cm^-1

at 340nm E= 6,220 M^-1 cm^-1
