Goal: This assignment task requires you to act as a professional Human Resources Consultant utilising your understanding of contemporary competency based issues. The task is for you to present a set of documents to a standard expected from a HR professional for presentation to the Board of Directors.

Product: Recruitment and selection proposal

Format: You will be required to analyse and assess the theory and current workplace standards, industry competency standards and professional benchmarks in order to develop appropriate documents. They should be based on your understanding, application, interpretation and analysis of contemporary competency based theory and current workplace standards. Additional guidance will be provided on Blackboard and tutorials. You are required to develop and submit the proposal documents in Week 9, consisting of the following materials:

1. a position description (title, classification, list of duties and selection criteria) for the position (2-3 pages)

2. an advertisement for the position (including salary and classification) (1 page)

3. a list of 10-15 interview questions for the Selection Committee for the position. (2 pages)

The documents are to be presented as a collection. No Executive Summary is required. In text referencing is not needed but a List of References must be included.

You will notice that the Self-evaluation and Criteria sheets contain a mark for the Reference list and in text referencing. Meanwhile, the Course Profile indicates that "In text referencing is not needed but a List of References must be included.". This statement about in-text referencing being unnecessary relates to the Position Description, Advertisement, Interview Questions, Ideal Responses. In text referencing will substantiate and add credibility to the explanation of Position Description, Explanation of Advertisement Design, Explanation of Interview Design, as well as the List & explanation of 'Do Nots' for the Selection Panel. As such, in text referencing is recommended for these sections.

Advice: Submit the following:

1. A Title Page (1 page).

2. A Table of Contents (1 page).

3. A position description (2 to 3 pages).

4. An advertisement for the position (including salary and classification) (1 page).

5. A list of 10-15 interview questions for the Selection Committee for the position (2 pages).

6. A one page document explaining to the Board of Directors why they need to recruit someone to the position (1 page).

7. A one page document explaining the decisions you made in the format and content of the position description (1 page).

8. A one page document explaining the decisions you made in the format and content of the advertisement (1 page).

9. A one page document explaining the decisions you made in the interview question design (1 page).

10. A one page document explaining what would be 'ideal' responses to the interview questions you posed (1 page).

11. A one page document with a list and explanation of 'do nots' for the selection panel (1 page).

12. A self-evaluation, where you mark yourself using the criteria sheet provided on Blackboard, and provide justification and reasoning behind your self-evaluation. A self-evaluation template will be available on Blackboard (1-2 pages): HRM211RSP Self Evaluation(3).docx

13. A reference list (1-2 pages).
