Course Description

The Recovery Coach Academy is a 5-day intensive training. Its purpose is to provide learners with the skills they need to guide, mentor, and support anyone seeking help to recover from an addiction to alcohol or other addictive substances. Ethics, biases, culture, values, guiding principles, dimensions of recovery, and attitudes about self-disclosure are covered. A Certified Recovery Coach assists recoverees to identify and overcome barriers to recovery, and links the recoveree to the recovery community.
Course Objectives

Upon course completion, the learner will be able to:

• Identify and describe from memory the four stages of recovery and five stages of change.
• Analyze and describe the "Spectrum of Attitudes" within relationships.
• Analyze personal attitudes about self-disclosure and differing paths of recovery.
• Assist a recoveree with completing a recovery wellness plan.

Context for This Course
The Idaho Board of Alcohol/Drug Counselor Certification, Inc. currently overseas certification. Recovery Coach Academy is offered every month throughout the state of Idaho. Each Recovery Coach Academy consists of 30 hours of training. This training is the first step in receiving Recovery Coach Certification.
