The probability that the annual peak will equal or exceed

3.25 A 33-yr record of peak annual flow rates was subjected to a frequency analysis. The median is defined as the mid-value in the table of rank-ordered magnitudes. Estimate the following:

a) The probability that the annual peak will equal or exceed the median value in any single year.

b) The average return period of the median value.

c) The probability that the annual peak in 1993 will equal or exceed the median value.

d) The probability that the peak flow rate next year will be less than the median value.

e) The probability that the peak flow rate in all of the next 10 successive years will be less than the median value.

f) The probability that the peak flow rate will equal or exceed the median value at least once in 10 successive years.

g) The probability that the peak flow rates in each of two consecutive years will equal or exceed the median value.

h) The probability that, for a 2-yr period, the peak flow rate will equal or exceed the median value in the second year but not in the first.
