PERSONAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Goal:

The Personal Leadership Development Plan project was designed to assist course participants in visualizing, conceptualizing and organizing a path for developing, implementing and enhancing their leadership skills and potential.

Description:
The project is an organized roadmap for developing and enhancing leadership skills over the period of the next one to three years. The key to success is setting goals, careful planning, getting a coach or mentor, and follow-through and persistence. This is for you personally and should include both personal and professional goals and improvement plans. This exercise should mirror the strategic planning you do for your unit or organization every 2-5 years. This exercise should be repeated every 1-3 years. The plan itself should be reviewed at least every three months to be used as a benchmark for self-improvement. The key question is: How am I doing in relation to the goals I have set for myself? To get optimal use of the plan you should: be self-critical, but do not dismiss your strengths; think big, but keep realistic; be specific in your goals. Please remember that this exercise is more for your benefit than for a course grade, so make the most of it

This exercise should allow you to think strategically (big and broad), tactically (focused) and operationally (specific task planning).
