Question: How would you describe the culture of your organization?

The culture of my organization would be best described as partnering with the community. My organization is a world-wide non-profit organization helping to build homes and communities. Our vision and mission is to bring people together to help build a decent home for families to live. My organization is run by a Board of Director (BOD), Committees, Director, staff, and volunteers. Methods of innovations and critical strategies are created by board members before they are followed through. Like any other organizations, politics gets in the way which causes conflicts. However, since most workers are volunteers than staff, we always welcome ideas and suggestions to improve our skills and methods. For example, if we think having a bake sale would help us increase the awareness, we would ask our volunteers for suggestions and ideas on how we can accomplish this event. Our volunteers and community leaders are always willing to help us with our needs.

What are the things that you can point to in your organization that contribute to your conclusion?

The one thing I can point to my organization is the lack of contribution from the Board of Directors. In my opinion, I feel the members should do more than attend monthly board meetings. They should come and interact with our staff and volunteers and get to know what we do behind closed doors.

If you had the ability to change something, what would it be and why?

If I had the ability to change something I would try my best to spread the message about my organization and help others understand how far their contributions can go to change the lives of others.
