A constant-head permeability test was conducted on a sample of fine silica sand. The cross-sectional area of the sample was 60 cm2 and its length was 150 mm. For 80 cm3/min steady-state flow rate, a total head difference of 8 cm was measured across two points separated by 10 cm along the axis of the sample. The dry mass of the sample (i.e. the mass of solids) is 1548 g and the specific gravity of silica sand is 2.65. Calculate:
a. the hydraulic conductivity (k) of silica sand,
b. the unit flux (q) through the sample, and
c. the seepage velocity (v) through the sample.
