The aim of the major negotiation exercise assessment is to help the student focus on the latter stages of the negotiation process by identifying and evaluating potential outcomes of a negotiation, demonstrating negotiation skills taught in the course and working to create a negotiated agreement. Role play instructions will be provided during session 6 and the negotiation exercise assessment will take place in session 10. The role play exercise will last 30 minutes and will cover the latter stage of the negotiation process. The assessment will require students to consider possible options for settlement, identify and assess the risks and possible consequences of the potential negotiated outcomes including possible ethical issues that might arise. In addition to the 30 minute role play exercise, students will each submit a written plan for the negotiation. The written plan should be 500 words or less, and a framework for the plan will be provided with the role play instructions during session.
