Successful implementation relies on communicating the strategic plan and developing action plans - the translation of organizational strategies into action plans. Otherwise, strategy remains little more than wishful thinking. Discuss what is required for successful implementation of a strategic plan.

Discussion Requirements

For weekly discussions you are to Seek a healthcare resource other than the book or power points, do not use your book as a first source. The use of the book as a sole resource is redundant since every student in the class has the book and reads the same information, search for an alternative resource and keep it in healthcare! Use the University's library any legitimate healthcare business strategy focused source, Six Sigma, or ACHE articles, AHIMA and even AORN.
All discussions must be accompanied by a true scholarly reference, NO exceptions. A reference that is incomplete will result in half points for the week.

  • Use of the book alone will result in 1/3 point loss.
  • Any first post without a reference will result in a zero grade for the week. A redo will be requested during the same week if not the zero grade stands. NO exceptions.
  • Answer each question in paragraph form. At this level it is time to engage into paragraph writings. A URL alone will not be recognized and your grade will reflect only half discussion points.
  • Researching the healthcare professional journals and organizations. Find true to fact information, do not give opinions just facts on the research completed.
  • Opinions mean you did not research and find true facts. Opinions can be given as a wrap up but not as fact finding as requested.
  • You must post your original discussion before access to fellow students' posts.
  • A minimum of 250 words are required for your initial post. This does not include the reference, or the question just your researched content is counted.
  • Only one quote (less than three sentences) from valid author
  • RESPONDto fellow classmates a minimum of three sentences.
  • RESPOND AND PARTICIPATE with the instructors posts weekly.
  • Grades will reflect non participation with the class and instructor.
  • Review the discussion grading rubric for specifics.

Forbidden resources:

No copycat sites such as wiki, e-how, e-zines, do not use Mind tools Google book links, dictionaries of any sort or personal experience.
You may use your personal experience as a third reference ONLY.
Valid resources include:
All resources from the NAU Online library, ACHE, AORN, iSixSigma, books used in NAU courses, medical journal articles, professional human resource groups, health care business management professional groups etc.....if you cannot find a date, author or article title it is generally a plagiarized item or copied so do not use it. Healthcare management books from other courses, if you are not sure please ask your instructor.

Develop a method to promote the objectives
Develop resources for staff and leaders to go to if support is needed during the action plan.
Utilize staff, alternative resources for efficient low cost action methods Support leaders, staff and outsourced members in their endeavor of the action plan changes Educate and communicate with staff and leaders as changes occur and keep communication open on the success and or failure of the plan.
Each step will help as you implement your action plan seek ways to stay successful for each step and adapt if the change does not work.

You can also look at the priority of the organization are there more areas to consider? For instance your organization may need a new emergency room department but it is critical to update the delivery unit department first.

Discuss why this is a priority and give the reasons it is best to work on one project versus doing both.
As an executive leader approval is also a huge part of an action plans' success usually an annual meeting with your governing board

can give insight not only on budget and prior years' report but also to address priorities for future projects.
