Start word open refletter and save it as

Step Instructions: 1: Start Word. Open RefLetter and save it as f01m1RefLetter_LastFirst, using your first and last names in place of LastFirst.

If there is a prefix in front of the filename, leave it alone. The prefix won't affect your grade.

Do not share files with your friends or the software will notify the instructor that cheating may have occurred.

Hints: To display formatting marks: Click on the Home tab. In the Paragraph group, click the Show/Hide paragraph button (the button that looks like a backward P). Sometimes students find this option to be helpful as it shows spaces, tabs and returns.

i) Always point to a button, graphical menu option, or color to display its name. Point means to move the cursor on the object without clicking.

ii) The insertion point is the vertical line that indicates where text will be entered. Click anywhere in the document to move the insertion point.

iii) To select text, left-click in front of the text you want to select, and then without releasing the mouse button, drag and select the remaining text. You can double-click a word to select it and triple-click a paragraph to select it.

iv) To select a picture, left-click the picture. Round handles will be displayed on the edges of a picture if it is selected.

v) MyITLab is very picky when you enter text. Text must be entered exactly as shown. Do not add extra spaces. Do press Enter unless specified. Use upper and lower cases as shown.

2. Select December 9, 2106, and point to several font sizes on the Mini toolbar. Use Live Preview to compare them. Click 11. Select all of the remaining text in the letter and change the font size to 11.

Hint: You must first select the text. To select text, move the insertion point to the beginning of the word by clicking at the beginning of the word, and then drag to highlight the text. Click the Home tab, then click the arrow next to the current font size, and select 11. Select the
remaining text and do the same.

3. Apply bold to the student's name, Stacy VanPatten, in the first sentence.

4. Customize the Quick Access Toolbar so that a Spelling and Grammar button is added. Use the button you just added to correct all spelling and grammar errors. Do not correct the spelling for Stacy VanPatten.

There is also a question in the Office Fundamentals: Simulation Training on customizing this toolbar.

POINT to the word gifted, click on the arrow to the right of that word, and then select Insert. Click on the x in the top right corner of the Thesaurus pane to close the pane. Make the next change, changing an to a.
