The specific Heat of a solid or liquid can be usually defined as heat required for raising unit mass through one degree temperature rise. That is,

dQ = mCpdT; For reversible non flow process at the constant pressure;

dQ = mCvdT; For reversible non flow process at the constant volume;
Cp  = Heat capacity at the constant pressure

Cv  = Heat capacity at the constant volume
