Socially vulnerable groups such as economically

To Comment

Socially vulnerable groups such as economically disadvantaged groups have been shown to have higher rates of morbidity and mortality.

They therefore need to be targeted in health promotion programs, through interventions that are sensitive to their circumstances, backgrounds and culture. People are living longer in today's society and with that come the number of older adults soaring in population size.

So as the older adult population continues to increase, so does the spotlight on the nutrition and quality of life for them. As we age and become older, our body goes through changes that are both physical and psychological. All of these changes can be addressed with the proper tools and guidance.

It cannot be stressed enough just how important nutrition is at all stages of life. It is not ever to late to make healthy changes regarding nutrition and improving your lifestyle.

A good program to approach with this particular population would be the meals on wheels program. This program is a community-based not-for-profit that delivers nutritious meals to the vulnerable people in the community to enable them to maintain a balanced meal within their own home (Galea, Walton, Charlton, & Mcmahon, 2013).

Senior centers have become one of the most widely used services among the elderly. Senior centers are places that specialize in helping older adults, or senior citizens, get the help they need to stay healthy and also independent.

Senior centers mix a variety of different health care services and also normal day activities to keep their senior citizens health and involved in everyday things. Some services they provide are meal programs, health and fitness programs, transportation services, and public benefit counseling.

These services help senior citizens to receive assistance so they're able to be an active member of the community. These centers could also contribute in assisting with stress management. During again, the loss of resources, cognitive capacities, evidence suggests that self-compassion may be beneficial to the older adults that are struggling to cope with the aging process (Perez-Blasco, Sales, Melendez, & Mayorodomo, 2016).

This is why it is very important to implement mindfulness interventions in healthy elderly people so they can improve successful aging. Exercising can also assist with stress management.

Swimming or water type exercises are a good type of program for the older adult. Regular exercise and activity are both crucial to the overall health of the older adult (Guderian, Johnson, & Mathiowwetz, 2013).
