Social movements that focus on indigenous peoples rights

Problem: In the postmodern period, there has developed a curious double-sided conundrum: social movements that focus on indigenous people's rights for example, are generally local grassroots movements. They tend to face off against powerful entities such as governments, militaries, and in many cases transnational corporations who seek to dominate resource rich regions on the planet remotely, e.g. Nike and other brand name clothing companies which have most of their manufacturing facilities outsourced in Indonesia, India, and other parts of the so-called third world. At the other end of the spectrum we have some major pressing issues that are global in nature, such as climate change, loss of species diversity, and large scale pollution fallout from industrial processes, that are occurring across the planet and have global effects. How can these seemingly opposite issues, i.e. the local struggles and the global problems, be resolved simultaneously? In other words, how do you kill two birds with one stone (speaking metaphorically)? Are there solutions to these problems that can work both globally and locally? Provide a concrete example of such solutions.
