Simple Distillation - Purification of organic compounds
Distillation is the joint procedure of vapourisation and condensation. This method is employed for the purification of liquids that boil without decomposition and consist of non-volatile impurities. This method can as well be employed for separating liquids having enough difference in their boiling points. This method can be employed to separate a mixture of
(a) chloroform (b. p. 334 K) and aniline (b. p. 457 K)
(b) ether (b. p. 308 K) and toluene (b. p. 384 K)
