Significance of darwins voyage

Problem: I think the significance of Darwin's voyage was that it served as a lengthy study into how certain beings that reside on islands can very much resemble other beings from the main lands near particular islands. The resemblance between mainland species and species that reside on islands seems to have provided much support to Darwin's ideas of how species can break off and adapt to new territories over time. I do think Darwin could have arrived at the same conclusions about evolution without taking his five year voyage. Darwin seems to have been well known for doing much of his research through the studies and ideas of other people, using them as his "eyes and ears". I think that because Darwin did well at synthesizing information and studying organisms sent to him from various scientists, he could have arrived with the same results. I do think that the absence of his voyage could have slowed his scientific progression by a few years, but that he would have achieved the same results regardless.
