Freshman 15 Study Use the sample weights (in kg) of male and female college students measured in April of their freshman year, as listed in Data Set 3 in Appendix B. Use a 0.05 significance level to test the claim that near the end of the freshman year, weights of male college students vary more than weights of female college students.

Data Set: Freshman 15 Data

Weights are in kilograms, and BMI denotes measured body mass index. Measurements were made in September of freshman year and then later in April of freshman year. Results are published in "Changes in Body Weight and Fat Mass of Men and Women in the First Year of College: A Study of the ‘Freshman 15'" by Hoffman, Policastro, Quick, and Lee, Journal of American College Health, Vol. 55, No. 1.
