Should police be able to access genealogy websites

Assignment task:

In 2018 my partner and I were working on the unsolved murder of Christine Franke from 2001. The killer left a complete DNA profile at the crime scene; however, it never matched any suspect in the DNA databank. We were notified of a genealogy hit when a killer's relative entered her profile into a public genealogy website called GedMatch. Watch the two linked videos to learn more. Respond to these topics: 1. Should the police be able to access genealogy websites to track down criminals? 2. What might be some of the legal arguments against this? 3. We had to track down several other relatives in the family tree to obtain their DNA. We used a ruse, telling these family members that we discovered a skeleton in Orlando in the early 2000s and it was linked through DNA to their family. Should the police use this strategy?
